This is going to be a long post, so sorry up front. There are a lot of new features to be explained. We asked for your suggestions a few weeks back and have tried to facilitate as many as possible. Here are the upgrades:

1. You can now edit your own posts. We have turned the delete function off because people in the future will benefit from reading your posts. If you do need something deleted for a good reason, we are happy to help. Just email us at boards@iboats.com .

2. You can now rate other members. If you wish not to be rated yourself, you can choose so in the my profile section. Follow the directions in #3 to enter the my profile section.

3. We have included 4 new fields in your profile section. They are: Types of Boats You've Owned, Types of Engines You've Run, Names of Your Boats, Favorite Fishing Hole/Spot. Other members would really like to see info about you. Also, if you do not like the password we emailed to you, you can change it in this area. To add/change your profile:
A. Click on the my profile link: http://www.iboats.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=my_profile
B. Click Login
C. Click on View/Update Profile
D. Make your changes and click View/Update Profile at the bottom of the page

4. We currently have the Private messages option turned off. If people start contacting each other privately then the rest of the BB members can not learn from you. We suggest that if you really need to have someone contact you, post your contact info on the message thread, and once they have contacted you, go in and edit your contact info out of the thread so that you do not get unwanted contacts. If you strongly think we should turn on the private messages please email us at boards@iboats.com .

5. We will be adding a chat area to the message boards within a few weeks. This should help those of you who want to schedule a discussion with each other.

6. We are going to start working on the FAQ section shortly with those who volunteered to participate. If you have not yet volunteered to help and still wish to, please email us your email address at boards@iboats.com .

7. There are a few more little things that have changed that I will not mention here.

As always, I was long-winded :) , sorry, but we are looking forward to hearing your feedback and additional suggestions.

Happy boating,
Admin5
boards@iboats.com
iboats.com team member

Who promised a spellchecker? Common fone_man when are you going to update your profile? I thought I gave good directions above on how to do it. As for Florida, can't wait to go back.

Forget the "The Bouys", just keep it afloat - sorry bad joke fone_man.

Now I know I have added my email address in my profile and chose to make it available but it seems that the option to get a persons email or profile is inoperative.

Thank you ADMIN the board will be easier to navigate. May I suggest that the same (wordy Just Kidding) message be posted in all topics. I was surprised to see the changes and I am sure others scrambled just like I did for my password.

Yepblaze - Just a note you got a vote!

Bob

:D

As for the spell checker I go up to "file" then down to new then over to new window. It opens a mail window. Type my message there, use the spell check in "tools" drop down menu and when done, select, copy, and paste it to the message box here. works on every forum Ive tried it on so far. I am using MS win 98.
