I am replacing a blown 1983 115hp, model# E115TLCTE, with a 1989 120hp, model# E120TXCEM.
My questions are:
1) Does anyone have an educated opinon on the reliability and service history of the 120hp?
2) Will the controls for the 83 115hp work with the 89 120hp?
Thanks,
Tom.

Dont hurt yourself. You wont believe the difference. Especially if the 115 wasnt set up properly and the 120 is. That thing loves rpm. Shoot for 6000 with an average load.

Everything is a direct bolt on / bolt up deal.

You're gonna love that Loop Charged 120. More cubic inches and tons more torque. They run like crossflow 150's. As reliable as any of them.

Thanks guys!
The engine is being mounted on a 1974 17' Welcraft CC.
Any tips on proper setup?
Is there an upgrade available for more charging/lighting current?

Tom,

For the setup, go to the new props forum and browse it. You find a lot of info on setting up a motor. You basically want to raise the motor (on the boat) as high as possible without ventilation to get proper rpm. then as a last resort, get a new prop.

And listen to Dhadley. Him along with Walleyhed are the setup guru's.

Yes, you can actually add the 35 amp system to your V4 looper. Youll need the stator, flywheel and regulator from a 2.0 liter Sea Drive. Oh, you'll need the upper bearing head too.

Thanks MCM!

I have visited a number of web sites and the only model stator I can't seem to find is the one for the 2.0 Seadrive.
A couple of questions:
Where can I find the OEM part #'s for the Seadrive parts?
Does the Seadrive have to be the same year for the parts to be compatible?

For future reference the OEM # for the whole kit, including nuts and bolts, is 0174810.
The 35 amp stator= 0583561
The Flywheel= 0583510
The regulator= 0583689
The upper bearing head= 0396668

I will have to wait before putting the motor on the boat because I found some major rot in the transom when I took the cap off.
