Upgrading Steering

I have a Mercruiser 140hp with 1st Gen Alpha 1 and I am looking to upgrade the rotory ride guide steering. Really, I just need the cable but I can't find anything that will point me to a replacement cable (Short of paying the dealer or finding a used one on eGay)

Is there a replacement teleflex cable I can buy here on iBoats that will work with the Merc setup?

the steering boxes wear out right along with the cable. The gears are typically just pot metal. The manufactorers want you to replace the cable and box as a set and that's why you are having a hard time finding one. If you did just replace the cable you more than likely would still have sloppy steering.

Yeah I had the box apart yesterday. Everything works fine until I mount the helm and it gets real stiff. So I am almost positive it is a cable issue, but I wont be sure until I get a replacement.

I just adapted my new steering wheel to use the Merc system too... Now it looks like it is back to the drawing board once I upgrade to the teleflex system.
