This is all I have so far. All I did was cove the plywood with carpet glued the carpet to the board and stapled the edges. How do you get the edges nice and flat on the back?

I need help with the thickness of foam and what goes over the foam before you put the vinyl.

That's looking nice Realgun. You'll need to cut away any overlapping carpet on the back of your boards (at the corners) so the boards will lay flat. Nice work man!

Is the vinyl covering just for vertical surfaces? I used mattress eggcrate foam on my gunwale pads. I turned the peak/valley side towards the pad board layed the vinyl on the flat side of the foam then turned the whole assembly so that the vinyl was on the bottom. I sat on the pad board and stapled the vinyl to the back of the board. I think it turned out OK, firm without being hard and not thick and puffy looking.
