Re: Upper crank bearing pulverized, why???

Generally, an upper bearing failure is due to lack of lubrication. Check any recirculation lines that feed up into the upper cap.
An out of balance flywheel can shorten the life of the supporting bearing, too. Could also be due to poor winterization. Fogging oils stick on surfaces better than regular motor oil. If the motor wasn't fogged prior to storage any residual oil is going to flow to the base of each crankcase chamber leaving the upper bearing open to corrosion/pitting/etc. Could have been a defective bearing, too....
- Scott

I just had the stator replaced. would this cause the flywheel to be out of balance? How can you determine if the flywheel was out of balance?
