Upper drive shaft question

I'm replacing the coupler on my 2.3 l omc cobra and was thinking about replacing the upper drive shaft. When I stripped the coupler the fillings were in the splines of the driveshaft. They look like once I clean up the splines on the driveshaft it will be ok. But if the splines are damaged the will need to replace that part of the driveshaft. Problem is I can't find any online except for the whole upper unit which I don't need and is expensive. My question is can I use a different driveshaft ie. merc or Volvo or are they totally different? Help please!!

Your OEM part number would be 0912212 U-Joint Yoke - Coupler End which converts to the Mercruiser 59830A 7
