1970 165hp L-6 MC-1 drive Weird situation, I bought my boat with the engine out and all apart. Got it all together and the three upper exhaust bellows that came in the boat were all way to short. So i looked it up and came up with part #53114a1 for merc which crosses to a 18-2759 sierra. I ordered and purchased the bellows got it home and went to install it and it's still like two inches to short. I can only get one clamp on either end and it's suppose to take two. Also, this particular bellows is straight. My exhaust riser is offset some compared to the exhaust tube. Looks like it needs to have a crook in it to fit properly. I have the cast iron manifold and riser and the riser does "not" have a spacer it sets right on the manifold. Thinking maybe theres a pre 1970 bellows i cant seem to look up. My parts lookup only starts at 1970. Anyone familiar with my older set up and do you know if there's another upper bellows i need? thanks

It's 1970 model. Maybe some previous owner cut 2" of corrosion off the pipe. Hard to say with a boat that is almost 40 years old.

maybe that's the problem. my riser don't have any offset to it... i think i've seen a pic of a L4 before and from memory, the riser seemed offset. bent out a shade towards the starboard side....

You may have something there Ziggy I may have the wrong tube on it i ended up with three in amongst the parts that came with the boat. And two of the used bellows where l-4 bellows. I checked the length on the tubes but not the angle. And yes it slants starboard. Maybee because of the angle it's making it shorter, which makes sense. I'll get on that in the morning thanks Ziggy. :D

Dont know what coors is refering too. Anyway I checked the 120 L-4 exhaust tube #s and there different than the 140 l-4 and the L-6 I think you may be right Zig i may have an l-4 120 exhaust tube on there. Same bolt pattern but comes up at a different angle. We'll see tomorrow thanks, i'll let ya know. ;)
