You think I would have learned my lesson back in April 07 http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=190895
with my UPS rants.

Well I purchased some things on ebay and it slipped my mind ..... I let the shipper send stuff UPS..... :(

Armed with the tracking number I checked on-line and my packages were due today..... This evening I checked and the on-line tracking stated the packages were delivered....... Left on the porch?????

Nope ..... not here! Not anywhere on the property or even by the road??

I called UPS and spoke with customer service.... they swore it was delivered and I told them no it was not....not at my address..... I was told to contact the shipper and report it. Now I am going BS and getting MAD very MAD.... I told them that it was not here and I wanted my package.... it was not the shipper's fault..... UPS said it was delivered to my address and it was not.

Ahhhhhh I consider this an INTEGRITY Issue. UPS Customer Service was demonstrating they were as dumb as the people who "delivered ....Left on the porch"

I asked what the shipper had to do with it and they told me to have the shipper make a claim!!! It is clearly UPS' fault or at least the driver's fault.

I went hunting..... armed with my flashlight, my truck keys and a bad attitude I ventured into the dark. First stopping at my neighbors and checking with the light by the house.... lucky I did not get shot at!! Then in the road I was able to see where a set of dual wheels had pulled onto the shoulder..... I checked that house and there it was! Leaning up against a garage door..... My package :) It looked bad from it's trip..... torn open ....smashed ....pretty poor shape. Now if that neighbor would have opened his garage door at 3 am (when he goes to work) and backed out of his garage.... it would have been right over the box!!!

I grabbed it and headed home .... gee the UPS guy only missed my house (with reflective numbers on the mailbox by the road) by two houses. 2 houses here equals about 1/8 mile.....

I carried the poor frozen torn package in and unpacked it..... Everything was there.

Okay honest errors happen but they need to learn what customer service is.

UPS STINKS!

i use purolator for everything......there is no leave it at the door...they must get a sig for it for it to be out of there system......

in canada we hardly see ups.....

but if anything was claimed "left at my door".....there would be serious problems........

forget the disgruntled postal worker......how bout the disgruntled owner!!!

cheers, glad it kinda worked out
oops

Re: UPS Integrity????

When I lived in Ketchikan, Alaska, UPS Next day was 2-3 day service, 2nd day was 5 to 7. No ground servied since we were on an island.
Prices double for anything in Seattle.
Seattle is a 1.5 hour flight to KTN, several times daily.
Here in Washington, on Tuesday the guy came to the door (heard a noise and looked at the door) the door is unlocked. All the lights were on, and people in the building. He was typing on his computer.
Then he picked up his packages and left ????????????? I assumed he had the wrong address.
Told the parts guy and he called them. The delivery guy posted that the buisness was closed...... Lest I forget, the door only opens if you pull it, not if you push it.

This was also a new guy, most of them use the delivery button that rings a bell in the shop that is just next to the door handle if the door is locked. But it wasn't even locked ant the lights were on ???????

About 5 years ago the UPS service was a lot better. In fact it was so good that several illegal drug trafficking groups used UPS as their super mule. That is,until they got caught.

I have had a few UPS packages left on my porch. . .even when I was home! As far as I am concerned if I haven't signed a receipt it wasn't delivered.

FedEx is the one that gets my ire. The Ft. Worth distribution center regularly returns packages to sender claiming that my Zip code and address don't exist.

Back in 1996 or so there was a group that was sending a computer with a cell phone sniffer from one coast to the other (and back again) using UPS ground. I guess because it took so long.. :) Anyway, they would capture a bunch of cell phone numbers and ESNs along the way. These they would sell on the black market. As I recall, the secret service shut them down... Not because they were protecting the public, but because they happened to grab the number of some senator or other.

I've been lucky so far.. I have to really specify with UPS because there is an Adresse very similar to mine about 5-6 miles down the road.. mine is "MOUNTAIN VIEW ESTATES" there's is "MOUNTAIN VIEW ROAD".. Im very surprised they havent screwed that up yet.. I have gotten alot of stuff via UPS.. Stuff through Dell I had to sign for.. But not the stuff I got to bag my Toyota or my trailer hitch for the ridgeline.. They just drop it in front of the door? Go figure.. Some of the theives that live around would love for me not to be home around delivery time...

Re: UPS Integrity????

Its all going downhill. The FedEx, and UPS girl drivers here at the private dogpatch..(guess the the guys all sitting home drinking beer?), always know when I'm home (which is always..retired thing..only town once a week), and they know to have "cookies"...for the mutt that greets. I buy/ship a lot of motorcycle/boat parts. 330 perfect ebay.(getting REAL sick of ebay by the way..a protest is the 18th by the way...people ticked of on fee's..but I digress..)
The PO? They have lost more lately..(I box WELL..printed out BIG addresses..triple taped over...the "cover" butt thing.
Don't matter....2 weeks cross country SOMEWHERE, is an irreplaceable antique motorcycle part. And I will soon lose it, and the dough, on a payback to the buyer.
Disgusted with them all.
Started somewhere when McDonald's in the 70's, thought it easier, with the picture of a hamburger on the machine, instead some one "knowledgeable "..some loser that can't figured what school is all about, but knew how to punch out a picture of a hamburger.
And the common sense of 35 stupid cents...was not comprehended I guess...world going down,..fast

Re: UPS Integrity????

I once ordered a new custom made seat cover for my Dads new truck . This place had them made special and the truck model was so new that places like auto-zone etc didnt have them. I paid over 100 bucks cash up front and was told they it would be delivered in about 10 days. To make the story short after about 30 days an no delivery I went to the place to get my friggin money back sorta mad that I had wasted so much time. Got there and the owner said . OH yes that seat cover(made for me with my name on it and address etc) was sent to their florida store and quickly sold.(stupid sobs should have just sent it back but I guess some bro friend of the florida store jerks wanted it) He said I could order another or get a refund,,,I took my money (should have snached it out of his hand) and "thanked him for wasting my time:I dont know who shipped it but could have been UPS

Re: UPS Integrity????

I think all UPS does is leave at the porch now... I've had them leave stuff on the porch when the front door was wide open and I was on the couch not more than 10 feet away. I hear the ding-dong of the doorbell and look over, and they're already halfway back down the driveway.

Anyway, you should be thankful they didn't steal it. I know of at least one case where a pair of sneakers worn and autographed by Michael Jordan were "snagged" by a UPS employee. If they want it bad enough, they'll take it. A mistaken or even a lazy driver is a lot better than a crooked one.

Re: UPS Integrity????

guys it depends on the requirements the shipper's requests. it cost more for a shipper to "request signature" with any shipping company, even USPS. they all leave stuff at my front door, and ring the door bell.

Maybe it is more with the delivery person that the process ... UPS has been GREAT for me ... the driver that covers our area gave me his cell phone number in case I needed something rushed ... he would vary his route to get it to me. He knows house and work and will deliver package to whichever location I am ... never had a problem with him, or UPS as a whole.

Re: UPS Integrity????

Ultimate
Package
Smashers

That is what a few of us call them around here. I had a circuit board ordered for a long time. It was one of those back ordered items that takes forever to get. These boards are wrapped in bubble wrap, put in a static proof envelope, and then wrapped with bubble wrap again. Then it is put into an antistatic box covered in egg crate foam stuff. Once the circuit board got to me, it was smashed so bad that some of the components (resistors, diodes, etc) broken off.

Took the box and everything back to UPS and showed them what the driver had left at my door at the shop. They of course denied that happened while enroute and said that it wasn't packaged properly to handle the shipping. They didn't know what to say when I told them that the package was delivered just 20 minuets ago to the time I was at their door wanting answers to what happened. They gave me the impression that nothing is damaged while in their hands. Just unbelievable the red tape you have to go through to get them to pay for their screw ups. Then then the ultimate statement from the clerk "Are you sure that item is damaged? Are you sure that it is broken?" Maybe if I slit her tires on her car and then asked her the same thing!

Well Gents, I have the same ongoing rant with UPS, They deliver my diabetic supplies,& everything else, I order and at times, even though I'm home most of the time, being retired, and it appears that someone's home? I have on occasion, found the packages, against the garage door, or under the steps, and sometimes it's insulin, which is sent overnight (in an insulated cold bag), occasionally finding this in those places, this Drives me Wild!! because it needs to be kept refrigerated! and at times, I've found the ice packs inside lukewarm (don't know if it's UPS fault, or the shipper?) constant complaints to UPS, or Medco health, has changed nothing! Lately the regular UPS guy knows me, probably from being here so often, and gets it right, but every so often it's a different guy, and the BS starts all over again!

My experience as well. They(UPS) drop it, ring the doorbell, and are gone. Where I live that has presented no problem. No signature unless specified and paid-for by the shipper. At least they ring the doorbell. USPS doesn't even do that. Also, the driver gave me her cellphone number as well. The other driver is the son of one of my father's friends.

Re: UPS Integrity????

UPS usually sits it under the carport, I have found it on the bumper of my truck, inside the bed of the truck, on the steps both front and back.

USPS, well, rural area carrier knows everyone usually pulls up, honks the horn, asks how the kids are doing and sometimes accepts a cookie or snack for their efforts. they know sometimes I work late at the office so allows the teenage son to sign for packages, she has watched him grow up. Got to love small town USA.

Re: UPS Integrity????

Seems like an honest mistake and Customer Service, was only going by what they had on the screen.

I have had every delivery company drop stuff on my porch. FedEx even dumped a $400 item marked "signature required", on the second delivery attempt.

We should cut them some slack. UPS is not the company it used to be and with Internet sales, their (and other') package volumes have SKYROCKETED in the past few years.

Before xmas, the UPS man deliverd me a package, in blanket fog, AT 9:00 AT NIGHT. That's why none of them are FAT.

I have my UPS delivered to a business address that gets deliveries every day at about the same time. No more left on the porch or the big brown truck backing into the soft grass of my front yard.

Actually, their lack of fat, probably has more to do with the fact that they spent about 10 years before getting a driver position, lifting 50lb boxes all day at one of the facilities.

And no I won't cut them any slack! Do you know how well they are paid? Nobody should have to put up with such bad customer service, but if you do, you certainly hope the person is being paid about what a McDonalds crew person get paid, not $75,000 a year! I expect more! Heck, I deserve better!
