Hi all,
Just installed a duel USB/12v outlet in my boat. There is an LED that is permanently on on the USB side of the charger that indicates it's powered. My question is should I be concerned that this may drain my battery?
Thx

If that's the case then not only is the LED on but the 12 volt to 5 volt conversion for usb is on as well.
I'd put it on a circuit that was only hot when the key was on.

A only "hot" when the key is on is a good idea. But understand that if you have a radio on board with preset memory. it too is using battery power to maintain those presets and clock time as well. While those things use minimal amounts of current, boat don't get the daily usage as vehicles do. So over a few weeks they can drain a battery, even with a low current draw..
