I am buying a boat in Texas and will trailer it back to Arkansas. I am not paying any sales tax on it in Texas, but can't find info on tax here except that there might not be any.

Thoughts?

Really? You really think that? If so, I've got some bridges I like to sell you too!:D

There are severe penalty if you fail to report vehicle purchase triggering a taxable event. Check with either your DMV or DNR. If you are truly blessed with such a state, make sure you have it in writing. CYA!

I know that in a person to person transaction there is no tax. I can't find anywhere on their dmv of ark tax websites regarding out of state transactions.

When you make a vehicle purchase (boat , motorcyle, car, ect.) the dealer will charge you the tax for the state that you live in. When you register the vehicle you will pay the tax if there is any.

In Arkansas, there is not a sales tax if you purchase a boat from an individual. If you purchase a boat from a dealer, the dealer will charge you the tax.

If purchased from an individual, you'll pay the registration fees, etc., but no sales tax.

I live in Georgia and I bought a boat from a dealer in Georgia that was selling the boat on consignment from an individual in North Carolina. They charged me sales tax....is that right? Should I have been responsible for paying sales tax on this boat?
