the 9.9 is far superior to the 9.5, they are one of the most sought after motors, do to the under 10hp restricted lakes. i say a nice one on ebay yesterday, just search "outboard motors"

Are you looking for a parts motor, or for a replacement for what you have?

Im looking for another motor for another boat. My dad in AZ has a 9.9 that he hasnt used in at least 20 years. It only has about 50 hours on it. He wont part with it either.

There are six 9.5 Johnson or Evinrude motors on Ebay right now. Because they are light, they can be shipped by UPS.

As stated, the 9.9 is a newer and better motor in most ways, but they are also generally more expensive.

Well, Yes, we horde 'em..;)
By the way, do you need a 9.5 or 9.9 because of those 10 horsepower restrictions on some lakes?

The 9.5 motors are great little motors but are a bit more difficult to work on if you are not used to them. They also suffer from parts availability issues these days. As others have said, the more modern 9.9 is also a great motor.

If horsepower restriction is an issue for you, the OMC 15hp motor can be easily disguised as a 9.9 - just find a 9.9 hood or re decal one from a 15hp. Make sure you take the engine data plate off of the transom clamp though!
