Re: used pontoon boat/party boat

Most of the toons that they list have between 40 to 90hp and a couple don't list engine size, with the 40-90hps I don't think you guys would be very happy. They also don't list if they have trailers or even if it is an option to purchase one. Seems more of the type of place that you need to visit in order to get info on whats for sale. Also pictures need to be taken with caution, things always seem to look better in the photo than they do in person

Re: used pontoon boat/party boat

That Parti Kraft is pretty nice, but 17 gs for a 2004 with no trailer? No thanks. The Suntracker and the Benny are underpowered for your needs, and the Sweetwater is a fishing barge, which isn't a bad thing if that's what you want, but I don't think it is in your case. I'm anxiously awaiting the report on Treker's rig. By the way, I wouldn't spend too much time responding to Jeanne95 who is most likely either a troll or spammer. If I'm wrong I'll hear about it and apologize.

Re: used pontoon boat/party boat

I can't believe it. I had called Independent Marine about Treker's boat and they said they'd get back to me. They didn't so I called again today. She didn't understand how I had seen the boat on Craigslist since they hadn't posted it. She said it had sold a while ago. I can't win. I told her that we needed a motor with at least 115 HP. Was that correct? She said they have a couple of boats that they just got in but that they weren't powerful enough for us. I finally get up the courage to make the call, had a list of Treker's and Incoop's questions ready, and it was over before I began. The search continues...

Well I guess that is why they(Independent Marine) have not replyed to my e-mail that I sent them with question about that Spacedeck. I now wonder about them. Why would someone else post it on craigslist and then show the source as Independent Marine. Sounds more like the bait and switch they may be using

You don't seem to be having much luck up in your neck of the woods, here's 2 that are still for sale on Smith Mountain lake, actually just became available, I boat there sometimes and it's not that far from me(2hrs). It is starting to look like you guys are going to have to expand your search area. Boating season is getting close, at least here it is, you may have awhile most people will put their boats up for sale right before or almost at the end of it. so you may have time yet and if you blow off any "date by" then you can just look through the summer

Don't sweat it suzie. Just wasn't meant to be, that's all. This is the time of the year when availability begins to increase in earnest, so you'll find the right one. What you're experiencing is perfectly normal. Let's recap your criteria. How many aboard typically? Budget? If you don't want to provide your zip code that's understandable, but it would be helpful. For example, we know boats in parts of Massachusetts are within range geographically, but with a zip code one can search a radius within a certain number of miles.

Just looked briefly through the NH craiglist boat section and Incoop is right about looking in MA as there doesn't seem to be much at this time. For that part of the country it is still early(really early) boating season. Now if you find one in MA are you able to transport it to your lake house or are you going to have to pay someone to transport it?

Treker- I don't see how we could trailer it from VA to NH. My husband has a tough enough time trailering our boat in ME to and from the next town each spring and fall. I'm glad you said that about Independent Marine because the listing on Craigslist definitely looked like it had to come from them. I have to find a used boat by summer or else my sister and brother will insist on buying a new boat. The other sister has a tighter budget and couldn't afford that. What a family...

Re: used pontoon boat/party boat

Just realized I had missed Incoop and Treker's earlier replies. Here's the info: We live in Cumberland, RI, 02864 (right on the MA border). The lake house is in Hampstead, NH. Salem is the biggest town nearby. It is on an island in the middle of Island Pond. A trailer couldn't cross the bridge to the island so we'd have to locate a public landing or have the people at Rockingham Boats put it in for us. Once the boat is in the water, it won't be trailered again (by us) because Rockingham puts the boat in, removes it and stores it over the winter.
We had a Godfrey Hurricane that held 10 or 11. It had the L-shaped bench seats in the stern (impressed with my nautical term?) with the captain's seat and then two bench seats across from each other in the bow. There was a round card/drink holder table by the stern seats. You guys are the best!

I like the boat. Great all around size and enough power to pull a skier or tuber (not very fast though). I'm just not crazy about the price. 15 grand for a seven year old boat with no trailer just seems a little steep to me. Did you ask him how firm he was?

As incoop said the price seems high for the toon with out a trailer, even if it came with that trailer I think it is too much as that is a sissor trailer only good for slow speeds wouldn't want to take it on the highway. But it never hurts to go look and see how low he would go price wise

By the way, did you know that one was made by the same folks that made the boat you're replacing? Trivia Friday.;)

SuzieB, that seems like a nice toon w/ good power. May be a bit high but maybe start at 12 K if you like it and it checks out, and see where he goes from there. I'm sensing a little desparation and frustration on your part. Don't go there. This is half the fun !!! Forget about any time pressures you've put upon yourself. Good luck !!!

Re: used pontoon boat/party boat

How many of your family do you see on the boat at a time, not just when it is first purchased, but if you are all at the lake house, won't some stay at the house and relax while others are out boating. Or will all want to go on the boat at the same time

"Coop", you're working very hard for "SuzieB". I hope she understands the 10% finders fee you charge for consultation !!!;)

10%??????? Hmmph. I would never work that cheap. Gotta earn enough to cover Sasto and Richard's gas bill for the Arkie trip!:p
