I asked this in another iBoats Forum, but received no answers. Where can I find used VHF radio parts? My Uniden Solara works great. I just need the blue rubber gasket that seals the clamshell mic and also serves as a trx button. Where oh where are VHF radio parts sold? Uniden was absolutely no help.

Who did you talk to at Uniden? Was it a customer service rep or just some flunky . You may be out of luck if your radio is more than a few years old, the part may be no longer available.

Maybe you could get an old one from a boat salvage yard. Or maybe just get a replacement mic if none are available.

Where? Nowhere!

Radios are throw away items. There is a radio dealer in my area that services them, but the cost is approaching what a new one costs. They only put in new parts anyway. And for good reason.

If the radio is that old or in that kind of condition that it needs a part, its probably going to need another part soon.

Its a safety item. You can buy a new one for $100-$200. Throw it away.

I have the same radio. It's only a few years old, so SOMEONE should have parts. Unfortunately, the mike doesn't unplug, probably for water resistance.

A small bead of Silicon RTV, NOT 5200!, and a damp paper towel will give you a nice looking and watertight Mic again!

Thanks for the idea of a boat salvage yard. I'll try some.
