I am having a hell of time getting the exhaust bellow to stay on. I have heard of a few people using the Bravo exhaust bellow instead because it only mounts on one side. I have a 3.0 LX engine in the boat. Can some explain to me why I cannot or can use it.

Howdy,

There's probably no reason. The Alphas (GEN I, II) and Bravos all use seem to use
18654A 1 BELLOWS-Exhaust

There's no difference.

You are probably thinking of the Mercruiser exhaust TUBE, which was designed to replace the exhaust bellows on the 6 and 8 cylinder engines. The tube is intended to reduce the back pressure, and is a popular replacement for the 4 cylinder (3.0L) owners. It only needs to be attached at the transom side and will slip into place on the drive side as the drive goes from the trailer position to the run position. They are sold right here at iboats!

Happy boating!

Hey Brian,

I opted for the tube in lieu of the bellow and the only time I notice it, is when I am trim all the way up.
With that said go for it and save hours of aggravation and the need to purchase a bellows tool.
