Guys,
By an awful mistake I brought the wrong gasoline tank today when I went out on the lake in my boat with a 4 HP Evinrude outboard. It did not hold a gasoline/oil mix but pure gasoline. Before starting, the tank on the outboard motor was about half-full of gasoline/oil mix, but then I topped it up with pure gasoline. Therefore, for the first about 30 minutes of ride, I was in effect running on gasoline with a 1:100 or 1:150 mix. Then I refueled again, and ran for 35 minutes non-stop at full throttle and almost pure gasoline. The motor seem to work well, no noises, no smoke, no problem.
My questions are:
1) Considering that I didn't hear noises or see smoke or anything, can I assume that I didn't damage the motor?
2) Should I take any special action before restarting the motor? I could take out the spark plugs and pour a little oil into the cylinders and pull the cord a couple of times slowly. Or maybe some other action?
Thanks for any advice-
Tom
