V-6 Cylinder Numbering

Just double checking. Are the cylinders on a V-6 numbered as follows:

Top port side = #1..........Top starboard = #2
Middle port side = #3.......Middle starboard = #4
Bottom port side = #5......Bottom starboard = #6

Yes, on the Chevy V6

Thanks MD...mines a Mariner outboard...is that still the correct way to number?

look at the motor from the back. you will notice the plugs are not directly across from each other. the top cylinder is #1 then the one across from it is # 2.
