Bought a Johnnie Cash motor. The midsection is a 82 single ram from a 200 the power head is a 89 oil Injection. the starter is 81 God only knows what the rest of it is. I'm still checking serial#s The motor cowling insulation caught fire. The cowlings did't come with it.well the ones that came on it . I've got a couple sections of cowlings from two other motors 150/200 light blue. that could be re-done . My problems is with the back brace some of the the hardware is missing. I'm not sure how this thing mounts .It looks like the mount has seperated maybe from the heat. it looks like a rubber bushing with a bolt that runs through the backbrace and has a nut on it. On the motor it has round disc with a nut on it . Was all this one part and just seperated due to heat? Can this part be bought or is it nla? The nearest merc dealer is 40 miles . I'm not even going to try to describe it to him over the phone. I prefer new parts to bone yard parts if posible . I've seen cowls on ebay, what years will fit my motor ? If wondering about the rest of the motor? The fire was only on the back no visible damage other than melted wires the harness is crumbly I'm sure that is what caused the fire to begin with. The heat sensor wires burnt too. I'm going to replace all electrical parts and all new wiring harness' already got the packs. I plan on changing the coils stator and trigger.I've been told that the trigger and coils hardly ever go bad ? Is this true? The motor cranks and runs now which amazes me . Am I spending uneccessary money or am I buying Piece of mind . I fish far and long and like to come back home.
