v-8 rebuild kit difference ?

question = what actually is the difference between MARINE kit (pistons/rings bearing's) vs automotive kit ? (pistons / rings/ bearings ) i am about to purchase but do not want to do the job TWICE !!!!! 5.0 228 MERCRUISER

Ayuh,.... I guess that depends on yer definition of "Kit"....

I am replacing crank & bearings - pistons/rings & bearings - lifters- cam is newer (less than 100 hrs) i found a block in great shape again 100 hrs cam in place rest is removed -- i am replacing a cracked block -- would like to put new guts in , that's why i am asking if there is actually a difference

If the kit includes the cam, there are different cams for marine than cars. There is also brass core plugs instead of steel in marine. Some gaskets have different materials for marine use.

this a mercruiser block with cam INSTALLED in it !!!!! ALL I WANT TO KNOW is there a difference in pistons and rings and crank bearings/rod bearings !!! ? or are they just plain auto ? thanks

Ayuh,..... Without knowing EXACTLY, by Part # what yer askin' about,...

They're All internal engine parts that part #s are determined by Measurements......
That's Why ya can't just Guess as to what parts ya need to stuff the internals of 1 motor, into a Different Block.....
Even Stock, Brand New from GM,... All the pieces do NOT just interchange with different motors....

Generally speakin', No, there's nothin' Marine specific 'bout Internal motor parts....

You asked what was different, I listed what was different. Since I didn't mention rings, bearings, pistons, etc. I would take that as meaning there is no difference.
