I have seen on the board guys are using holley blue pumps in leau of the V-8 primer pump. Does this work? I actually have the holley so it would'nt cost a think aside from some plumbing. I assume its is not supposed to be mounted under the powerhead cover? What is the start procedure with the primer pump? I assume a quick shot of the primer, choke and then start? I am hoping to try and start my motor this weekend.
Thanks

All the primer pump does is replace the primer bulb. You flip a switch rather than squeeze a bulb. The actual starting proceedure is the same as with any primer injected motor.

1- Pressurize the system. In this case you'll activate the electric primer for a few seconds and then let go of the switch so it shuts off.

2- Turn the key to the "On" position. Do NOT engage the starter.

3- Push the key in for about an 8 count or so.

4- Turn the key to "Start". The motor should fire up almost instantly.

As it warms up you may have to tap the primer (push in on the key) until it comes out of Quick Start.

Make sure you plumb around the electric primer with no restrictions. You don't want any restrictions at all and you dont want the pump running all the time.

Not trying to hyjack the thread.... I tried to replace my electric pump thinkin it was fubar. Its a Wabco ( still in production) I took it apart and it got a prefilter in it that had all kind of goo and other assorted stuff it caught prior to the filter.
The one way fitting on the copper bypass was letting fuel go back into the tank along with the obstructions.
After tearing it apart and making sure the check valve was clear it is again working well just Dhadley way Dhadley describes.
