I'm thinking of buying a 1992 Ski Nautique with a 5.7litre V8. The engine runs fine at low revs but misfires under load or at higher rpm. The current owner says he has been told it's probably the distributor, and he has replaced leads, plugs etc. The boat runs on LPG. Does a faulty distributor (electronic type) sound feasible, and how expensive is it?

Re: v8 misfire

Is it carbureted or fuel injected? TBI or MPI? I'd have someone put it on a scope. That will show up any ignition problem. I'd also do a leakdown and compression check. I imagine that that boat is quite an investment in the UK. Use a professional to protect your potential investment.

Could be distributer, could be alot of things....I would start by analizing the ignition system.....Are the plug wires in the correct position?.....Take it to a professional & have it diagnosed....It will be worth it....JK
