Re: Vacation Time

We just got back yesterday from a beautiful place on Richland Chambers Lake in Central Texas. The lakehouse we rented is on 4 acres of wooded waterfront. We canoed, kayaked, we listened to and saw otters, owls, tons of birds and deer, all sorts of wildlife. We had a great time, wish we could live there. It was a nice mini vacation over the last 5 days.

Re: Vacation Time

AHH, it all sounds nice. We go up to Wisconsin every year to the lake for a week or so and then spend a long weekend in Madison. Last year also were able to get a trip in to Norfork Lake in Arkansas.

But, no vacation this year as we are building a new house. I'll be thinking of you guys having fun on the water while I try not to think of my boat sitting on the trailer.:(

Re: Vacation Time

Just got back from Sacramento Ca. last night it was nice. But a long flight form Cincinnati Oh. Went to San Francisco and saw Alcatraz, Golden gate bridge, and walked Pier 39 while we were there. Ate at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. Best restaurant sea food i have ever eaten.

Leaving for Okeechobee Fl. on the 1st for a week of fishing. I always have a good time on this lake. I leave there and drive straight to Land Between the lakes in Ky to catch up with friends for another week of fishing. This will be a week of primitive camping with out the girls so it should be fun. Talk about putting miles on a truck and boat.

Re: Vacation Time

This year, Gator Nationals in Gainesville, we made a week of it.

And the Iboats get together in April.

Starting to plan a week in the Keys, with the boat, for later this year...

Re: Vacation Time

Honestly, I get about 6 weeks vacation time a year and never use more than 2 weeks..
I travel so much for work that staying home is a vacation to me.

I hear you I am the same myself but I have to think of Mrs Ken. When we do go away though it is pure relaxation.
There's nothing quite like your own bed when you get home though.

Any chance you'd like to share the location of that "primitive
camping" spot ?!!

I live 1 1/2 hrs from LBL. Heaven on earth. Camped there once, lucked
out and "stumbled' upon an empty "fabulous" site.

Since their are no reservations do you have several in mind and pick the
one that is empty, or is it just that quiet this time of year?

I'M JEALOUS:D

I was in Alabama for the first 3 weeks of this year, I have had lot's of 2 to 3 day trips 4 or 5 hours drive from home since then. We are off to Jamaica for the daughters wedding on Friday for 10 days. back to our plant in Alabama the week before the get together then drive down to the get together from there (closer) then back to our Alabama plant for a few days then home. At home for a week or so then off to Korea for 2 weeks, back home a few weeks then off to Alabama for a couple of weeks. Back over to Japan a couple of times again this year and at least one more Korea trip. Taking Mrs Ken to Jamaica or similar for her birthday in November for a week or so. In between the above I will be doing several 1 or 2 night trips to our Toronto plant, toolshops in Grand Rapids Michigan and anywhere that we are getting offload tooling from. Oh I almost forgot, another week in Alabama in October (ish) We will be at the cottage for at least 5 long weekends and the family vacation there most likely end of July.
Could be a difficult boating season this year.

Other than that I will just be at home !!!!:D
