what is the role the line from the front air intake to the bottom of engine looks like a vacuum line and could that be the reason for my missing at higher rpm, line was broken.

What is the model # of your Johnson outboard? Need to know that to determine what hose your are talking about. As for oil any TC-W3 mixed 50:1 is what you want to use.

TC-W3 is not a brand name, it's a rating given to the oil, just make sure the oil you use has the TC-W3 rating on the package.

I believe the hose you are talking about is

item 38 HOSE, Air silencer. Cut from 203909

I believe it was for letting excess fuel that came out of the carbs to drain off into the leg where it would weep into the water. Helped keep things clean under the cowling. Not very environmentally friendly but that was how we rolled back then.

OEM 2 stroke oils have more detergents in them for a cleaner burn.
Way less carbon deposits, less chance of stuck rings.
Longer motor life, better idling & overall running of the motor.
The hose on the bottom of the air box
Returns excess fuel to the bottom of the block to be burned.
I've seen them split or off before with no change in running.
