The nipple on the vacuum switch and bracket on my johnson gt 150 broke and I am looking for a replacement part but everywhere I have searched says that it is obsolete. Do I need this on the motor or can I just take it off? Also if I do need it does anyone know where I might find one?

did a search and a old post joe reeves (well respected guy) said and I quote "The vaccum switch enables the warning horn to sound constant and steady if a fuel restriction is encountered"
They have a updated number for the switch but they are proud of that made in china plastic piece to the tune of $130 new or $30 used. I can not link the site I normally use to show parts diagrams but a quick yahoo search for gt150 Johnson vacuum switch should lead you to a site that starts with marineengines just enter the engine serial number to get to the parts diagram or enter the year and type. hope this helps

I believe your and my engines use the same part and I replaced mine with one found on ebay and when I typed "omc (number)" several came up so I would try there. my part number is 0394937

so I went to ebay and typed omc 0394937 and several came up
