Hi from Scandinavia

Winter is comming fast here in northern scandinavia and i had to take my boat out of the water this weekend and winterize it (engine is a 2006 Mercruiser 3,0 FWC w Alpha Drive) total runing hours 300

I followed Dons excelent guide and the engine and boat is now winterized ready for the hard Scandinavian winter - douing the winterization process i got a few questions that i hope you can help me with

-I havent adjusted valves on my 3,0 mercruiser - is it something you should do as maintenence - engines runs perfect and has no valve noise etc.

-I have checked gimbalbearing - and lubricated it - it seems to be in perfect shape - but should it be changed just as a precaution (bearing has now 300 hours on it)

-I changed the water pump (mercruiser recomends that you do that every 300 hours) - but water pump was in "as new" condition maybe due to the fresh water only use that my boat is used in - can / should i wxtend the next service to eg. 4 years?

Nope, not necessary, they are self adjusting.

No reason to replace a perfectly good bearing. Taken care of, it should last for many years,

Do you want to go 4 years and see if you have an overheat during the boating season, or go boating and not worry?

The engine mounted water pump powered by the belt, the manual calls for you to change every 300 hours?

Chief, I believe he means the water pump impeller. The circulation pumps last until the inner seals wear out, and they leak into the bilge.
