Valve Cover Leaking Oil

I have a 1987 Mercruiser 3.0 140 and have replaced the valve cover gasket several times due to problems below the valves, head etc. Looking at the engine from inside the boat I can not get the valve cover to quit leaking from the right side. It has three bolts on this side and it seems to be leaking from it. I have used a new gasket and gasket rtv on it and also used studs to put them both in place. Is there a certain way to tighten the bolts down from center left side first etc.

Lay the cover on a flat surface and see if it is warped. When you put the cover back on, crank them down lightly and then go around and evenly crank them down the same. I would have to think your cover is warped somehow or you did not get all of the old gasket off

Lets say it is warped, should it be replaced or is there any other way to fix. I am going to try to fix tonight but that always takes longer than I think it will. Thanks for the post.

I am sure that you could probably tap it back down with a hammer but the best fix is a new or good used cover
