Hi - I'm looking to purchase a 2004 Larson 212 (some pics attached - it hasn't been cleaned up yet.) Boat has very little use, has sat most of it's life. Problem is, at one point the tarp blew off and the owner didn't realize it. Plug was in, so boat filled with water, not over the deck though. Boat has since been drained, engine inspected etc. All that checks out.

My concern now is the structural condition. And yes, I've searched. I need to know if VEC includes stringers EVERY time and if it also includes the DECK and ENGINE MOUNTS.

Basically I'm trying to ascertain if wood rot should now be a concern. Does anyone have any definitive information on this?

A google search for "VEC wood rot" and "VEC bad engine mounts" results in nothing, which I think is a good sign..

Looks to be I/O propulsion. You are sure motor didn't get water into it? If the rain was up to the deck,it is possible the engine block admitted some water. That being said, the issue is not the wood that you cannot see, but the wood you can see. Stringers are usually protected by foam, and fiberglass. Also, weigh the boat to see if she has trapped water.

I would open the skiwell and inspect. Ditto the bilge. Test the deck for soft spots etc. Did the boat ever freeze with that water in it?

A professional inspector is likely worth the $.

Thank you very much. Larson website ended up responding to me today. Here is the response in case anyone else is curious someday.

"The hull in made completely out of fiberglass. The transom and stringer are made out of a closed foam material. The deck is fiberglass but it has wood blocks in it to fasten wiring to."
