Hello All,

This will be part of my 76' Bertram Restore in the restore forum.

351's are being rebuild as I write this.

Gear box's are out, they been sitting for four years, all ok when boat was pulled, (but so where the motors, that are now getting full rebuilds!),fluid clean, not burned, no leaks, everything is turning.

Model R 233 Ser# 4338077 and Model L 233 Ser #4337968.

I want to open them up and replace the gaskets, seals etc.

Questions as follows:

Is there an online service Manuel ?

Is there a rebuild/seal kit for them ?

Have done Auto trans/gearboxs before, any special tools or knowledge to do these, or is it a trained tech only Job?

Thats for your help, hope this thread helps someone else.

Mike Mas:rolleyes:

Head up to the adults only sticky at the top of this forum. You can find links to the Mercruiser OEM manuals there. Manual #2 Covers those transmissions.

I think I would link to your engine thread instead of paste all of those posts into your opening post. Makes it a little hard to read. You could subsequently link in the Velvet drive thread, more engine stuff etc. Keep the Restore thread more general boat and overall restore. I love Berties  Good luck!!!

Don,

Looks like a straight up rebuild on the trans, out side of needing an arbor press , any way around it?

How to I do a link from the thread to thread?

Re: Velvet Drive Rebuild ?

In your restoration thread, just put links to the different theads you start on each subject.
Something like this.

1. 351 Ford Questions
2. Velvet drive rebuild

It's going to make it a whole lot cleaner on your restore thread than having every post in one thread. Then people can read the one they want.

I assume you are rebuilding them yourself? Did you find the rebuild kits? eBasicpower.com has lots of that sort of stuff. eBay also.

Re: Velvet Drive Rebuild ?

I may do it myself, based on the service manuel I need an arbor press to do some of it.

Did find all the parts on the sites you guys recomended.

In the middle of a bunch of small projects on the boat before we get to the trans, may just sub it out in the end, Know anybody local in Jersey?

Thanks
Mike
