Re: Vendetta restore

doubled 3/4 would be thicker than the original and that would cause problems with the decking sitting on top of that part as well as the stringers wouldnt it?

If so, use the 1/2" but from this ^^^ photo, it doesn't look like it will be a problem. But remote via limited detail pix, it can be difficult to see how the parts & pieces will fit together....

Nice little restore you have there. I am also doing a boat and trying to keep the costs under Control. With all the supplies I am sitting at a grand. I will probably be around $1300 when all said and done.

No Stars here bro, but people that love boats. I am fortunate enough to be able to do all of this and document it for the boaters out there. I just wish I had time to spend here.

It must be the rules of nature that the exact hour that I get off work it starts raining and gets cold.

Can't work on my project so I'm looking around eBay at gauge sets and seats and such, found this style of seat

Tempress Navistyle High Back Boat Seat Gray 54853 Marine Hi Back New | eBay

Anyone have or had some of these before? I like the idea do just being able to buy new covers/cushions and the all weather design seems a plus too. Only thing that worries me is there must be a weight rating on these and I have never been a small man....lol

I worked on getting a complete stringer out today. Man that thing is really in there. I ended up quitting until I went to Harborfreight and got one of the Chinese wonder vibrator tools to be able to gring down near the bottom of the things. Is there some secret way other than grind away until it comes loose?

Patrick ITCHY! Anyone else have all the spongebob episodes memorized? Got the stringers out today. I also found more wood!? There's this ironing board looking thing in the middle under the stringers that has to come out since I did some test drilling and found wet wood. I'm betting the ironing board is 1x12 since the little strakes had ripped 1x4s in there. This is my first restore but don't seems right finding regular lumber in there .lol

I'll get some pics loaded in a bit to show the ironing board.

Re: Vendetta restore

got the ironing board up today....found a surprise...MORE WOOD! and yes it was waterlogged as well so it has to go as well. there was also foam under that board?
2013-01-20_15-32-00_769_zpsb3a4b55e.jpg

got the glass off the top of that wood and its like the other 2 places, strakes?, where they just put in 1inch lumber 2inches wide and a foot long only this set they placed 2 side by side. very strange to me. got all that out.
2013-01-20_16-34-40_160_zpsd9e8c7a6.jpg

got 2 more pieces of plywood in the bilge area to get up now and then its sanding time...anyone say fun fun?
2013-01-20_15-32-47_556_zps1d438b63.jpg

so im wondering if anyone hear mite give me a suggestion on what to put back down because I am NOT using 1x lumber in this boat when I start putting it back together. I was thinking I would use 3/4 plywood for those boards in the very bottom of the hull and glass it in really good but do I need to put the board cover over them and foam it all in like it was? I was going to enlarge the floatation boxes in the back a little, theres lots of room under the topcap back there and I figure since weight wont be a big thing with foam and more foam is better right? I could just cover the 2 pieces of 3/4 with a piece of 1/2 ply and PB the crap outa the whole thing it would have as much strength. any suggestions in this would be great.

Re: Vendetta restore

Mine had 4 short pieces of 3/8" plywood about 2" wide glassed into the area just in front of the bilge. From the shape, I suspect it was put together that way to form a channel to divert any water back to the bilge?
Nice progress on the boat.
