Finally got my "new" 1984 evinrude 115 out on the water. Runs like a champ for about 20-30 minutes...all of a sudden RPS jump up like im out of the water...no turn..straightaway...slow down and slowly raise throttle and all is fine again for a few minutes then it will rev up again...what is this doing...sounds almost like it goes into neutral or something??????

Re: ventilation?

If that is what's wrong then unless there's some compelling reason to replace the whole prop you can just buy a new hub (that's the part that's spun) for for a lot less than a new prop.

Re: ventilation?

I was thinking...could this be an issue with installation...this whole set up is new...installed and used 1x...is it possible I need to adjust the shift cable a bit?

Prop slipping:
1. Mark inner and outer hubs with indelible marker
2. Run boat to planning speed
3. Compare marks ? if they?ve moved relative to each other, hub is slipping
4. Remove prop
5. Take it to a propeller shop and have it rehubbed
