vents for seating - only for wooded seat bases?

I noticed that my new replacement seats with plastic bases do not have vents. I found 3 1/2" round louvered vents for sale, and they are described as "giving air circulation for wooden seat bases to keep them strong". I understand that the moister can damage the wooden seats, but wouldn't you want to vent the area for the contents as well, if you have plastic seat bases?

I find that the things I leave in the plastic seat bases are a little damp and it is humid inside, so I was thinking vents would be a good idea. Waste of money or not?

Wow. Good question. Hopefully someone with more knowledge than I will jump in here but I think ventilation under seats can't hurt. After typing the last sentence, I went to look at the seats on my 2009 Bentley and they don't have ventilation and I haven't noticed a problem. But I may keep my seats open while not in the water from now on.

My rotocast (plastic) furniture bases do not have vents. But they do have drain holes. Since everything is raised just a skoush above the carpet, it does allow air to circulate and any accumulated water to drain out.

My L shape seats in my pontoon have plastic bases with a 1" drain hole in each seat x 3.
My accesories and life jackets that are stored in these compartments used to get damp untill i installed round white 4" vents in each seat base. No more dampness. Point vents downward..DUH!
