Re: Verado this thing is huge.
Sorry bout the delayed reply. Work swings and just got home. The old 220 is at dealers for 1375.Think it had a pretty new and good power head, but would start smoking between 3thou and 4 thou rpm then clear back up. Was running a 25hp 4 stk kicker that sold me on them. Thanks for the headsup on the octane.I am fairly new to boating, only the last three years or so, listend to you all a lot and got some great advice on here. I rebuilt my first IO 2.4L OMC outdrive with your help.Replace fwd,rev and clutch dog.Works great.Purchased the 2302 with the Mariner.Had problems since beginning. I still made 8 salmon trips this year out of Garabaldi, Oregon. Some of you may remember the ill fated Taki Too that overturned on a commercial fishing trip and killed about 6 people.Trying to up safety factor.Went down in HP on the kicker to 15hp Big foot to gain a little weight back and plan on running about half tank(70 gallons appx) to compensate for the other weight increase of the Verado. I agree, the cost is getting pretty high, kind of like how the cars and pickups have gone. What can you do if you enjoy boating though. My Nephew and I had a great times last summer. I'm single and can afford to be foolish I guess.
I think the 220 Mariner is same as 175 Ski from Merc after they went to Prop HP. So 200 Verado should do fine.I was able to do 43 mph on GPS and pitot out on a lake(prop 19P).Verado costs twice what I paid for the boat, motor and trailer, so you know I choked a little seeing the cost nowdays.
