Hi again all!

I want to make sure the outdrive I am installing with my new rebuilt 5.7 350 has 21\16 gear ratio. I realize i should be changing the outdrive but thats next winters project..

Whats the easiest way to get to the gears on the stringer to verify?

Re: Verifying gear ratio on stringer??

mark the ball gear with paint. mark the prop with paint. turn ball gear clockwise (when facing ball gear of upper)
count how many revolutions of the ball gear make one revolution of the prop
if you have 21/16, it will take 1.41 ball gear revolutions to turn the prop 1 revolution
go 10 rotations for better accuracy

14 ball gear turns = 10 prop turns

all the ratios and overall ratios are in the charts in Seloc manual

I had a gut fealing you would be the one replying to this post :)

Thanks for your help.. I will be checking my gearing asap. But how exactly will i know its 1.41 turns?? Thats kind of extremely precise. How close of revolutions will the closest gearing be 21\16
