Re: Veterans

Noone had time for political views or global Monday morning quaterbacking aboard my ship,as we stood 3 section 24/7 duty in addition to the regualar work days. That's if we weren't in the middle of a typhoon or out on spec ops.Any other spare liberty time we had was not spent hashing out world politics, but other social development skills. ;) Media hype was also not near as widespread. We probably knew as much about what was going on or being said stateside as stateside knew about what we were up to.

I actually enjoyed my stay in the USN and made some very close friends and shared some memorable times together at a young and energetic age.I miss the comradery and have found that iboats restores some of it.Funny ,,most of us have never met except thru these forums.

As I recall he told me they were based in Thailand, and flew out of there to Nam and back. Think I have my facts right...been some years since we discussed our service in/over that beautiful country. He is known effectionately here as Te******x;
Cheers
Phillip

How about this one:

C130 Rollin down the strip,
Airborne daddy's gonna take a little trip.
Look up, stand up, shuffle to the door.
Step right out and count to four.
If my chute dont open wide,
I've got another one by my side.
If that one don't open well,
I've got a one way ticket to he77.

No, no, no Joe, it goes...

C130 rollin down the strip
Recon daddy gonna take a little trip
Stand up, buckle up, shuffle to the door
Jump right out and shout MARINE CORPS
If that chute don't open round
I'll be the first one on the ground
Grease gun, K-bar by my side
These are the tools that I live by
And if I die in the combat zone
Box me up, and ship me back home
Pin my medals upon my chest
Tell my family I did my best
OOOOOHHHHH RAAAAHHHHH

That's one of the things I miss most about serving, waking up at 4:30 three times a week and running 3-5 miles with 25 of my best friends.

Something about cadances. My Dad and husband remember all of them and sing them even today.

I got a girl in Boston Mass
She's got .......

Some of the older non-PC cadances are not appropriate material for iboats but really are histerical.

There are only two things a Marine fears. God and a corpsman with a needle in one hand and his shot card in the other..

Not all times while in the service were filled with action unless you want to count the times when liberty was called. Then it was a frontal assult on any port we were let loose in.. :D

I bet many could tell some tales here..Only problem with that is many would get poofed..I bet some here could tell some tales. If You think some fishn tales are ankle deep I bet some here have some long ones to tell. I know I do..How about some of you..

That's not fear, that's respect :D

You are right GF, there are hundreds of hilarious stories we could tell. Problem is we would offend everyone who hasn't experienced the same thing.
