Ok guys. I went out fishing with a buddy today. I started getting a vibration somewhere so we took it easy fished a little and finally got back home. I went home and flushed it. At idle I dint get any vibration. I put it in neutral and quickly gave it some gas and finally heard the vibration. it soulds liek its coming from the U joint bellows area so that leads me to believe its the U joints. I recently greades them ( about 3-4 moths back) when I replaced the gimball bearing ( the gymball bearing was aligned with a tool)
I dont feel or hear any vibration in the outdrive so its most likely the u joints.
Are the u joints a special type or just average automotive u joints? they have a grease fitting

Do any of you guys have a part # for these u joints. I need a part # that can be cross referenced with a automotive one. Can you guys think of anything else it could be?

the boat in question is a 1989 bayliner with a 5.0 ford/omc v8. and a cobra outdrive. The outdrive is fine. I popped off the top cap and looked inside. oil is clean gears dont wiggle or look worn anywhere. the boat shifts fine and drives fine also. I want to take care of the vibration before I go out again. i dotn really want to take the boat out with the vibration. Afraid Ill break something more expensive than the u joints.

Anywhere on the net where I can get these if they arent simply automotive U joints

Aosl does anyone have a pic of the hydraulic rams? Mine need soem spacers and washers ( never came with any) and I want to see what I acutally need and the sequence they are on the boat

thanx a bunch

Just go up to the top of this page and click on the link that says OMC IO Parts.
You can also Go Here to find the OMC number and parts breakdowns.
