I also noticed that on the newer volvo 3.0 engines they have a second bypass that dumps right into the exhaust down pipe...(hose 19 in photo)

i know they could of also changed something else which required this but wonder if this was a change made to help alleviate excess pressure? is there a tech bulletin website out there that may have updates like this?

We had a similar problem this spring and we found that the thermo housing had a restricter in the bypass port. Is was factory but very small like 3/16". It was threaded in so we removed it and had no further problems.

Im assuming this is in the UPPER part of the thermostat housing correct?
