Can anyone tell me what HP, year, oil/gas mixture and weather or not to buy this motor. I see it says 9.?, the second digit is a little worn off, the only really wrong with the entire out board cosmetically. The gentlemen selling it said it would proboloy need a new pull start, can I still get one of those and approx how much $?

I thought I would ask you guys to see if its worth while. Also getting it for a decent price.

Viking sold by eatons
Model S4121
Serial 1791

Re: Viking Motor

Viking was Eaton's house brand. Over the years, several mfgers. supplied the motors...could be Muncie, Gale, Evinrude or West Bend made. A photo and your best shot at the model/serial # will help us tie it down correctly. If you have enough room, put a piece of paper over the ID plate and rub over it with a pencil...that helps the worn numbers show up better. A photo would be a big plus.

Re: Viking Motor

I'm not up on the Evinrude 9.5/9.9 while the shift seems right the clamp screw handles seem wrong and not sure about the lower unit.
Just want to make sure it isn't some odd ball problem motor.

Re: Viking Motor

Chrysler hasn't been Chrysler since 85.Became Force. Force has been gone about 10 years.Mercury did parts support for Force, stopped parts production 4 or 5 years ago.Search parts here at iboats, based on Chrysler listings.
Recoil starter is a common failure.
Then compare parts availability of Evinrude/Johnsons more common 9.5 and 9.9.Well established BRP dealers shouid have parts as well.

Say what?? There is no relationship whatsoever between BRP and Chrysler/Force motors.

I am comparing available parts supply for Chrysler and the much more common E/J motors.Perhaps I worded it poorly.I reworded previous post.

Re: Viking Motor

OK, that makes sense and is a good point. E/J parts are available everywhere, you have to look around for Chrysler stuff.
