In hopes someone out there can help me.
I have an old vintage clinton 7 HP K700 series outboard motor, that will not even fire. I rebuilt the carb, the pulse pump is working just fine, the reed valves are like new and sealing tight, the points are clean and gaped at .20, the spark plug is new and has a nice blue spark, The compression is 80 PSI. The issue is, it will not even fire even once. I have tried spraying a little gas mix directly into the carb throat, and after sever pulls, pull the plug and the spark plug seams very dry. What am I overlooking that would not make the piston not suck gas from the carb?

Many thanks for some answers or where to look next.

My question is what kind of fuel supply are you using. Im assuming a tank with primer ball? I always put a small fuel filter in-line so I watch to see if fuel is moving. Next question is and its a stupid one. Is the float working and not allowing fuel into the bowl? Look at these 2 pictures attached.

Thank you very much for the reply. But I have learn from other sources that the compression of 80 PSI is my issue, they say that either there is broken rings etc, with that low of compression it is not opening the reed valve to suck fuel mix from the carb. And that does make some sense to me. For this motor is very old and had been sitting for three years. So I am going to tear it down and inspect the head gasket, cylinder walls and rings.

80 psi aint bad Ive run them on that and they still run today. Doesnt hurt to look any way. 25 psi is a different story. Let me know what you find out

Will do, I also found where someone had been into this motor and reused the head gasket, and in doing so they put copper based silicone gasket maker on it, to me that is a no - no. You must always use a new head gasket for once they have been compressed there done for.
