I am looking for advice on what vinyl adhesive to use to glue Nautolex marine vinyl flooring onto aluminum paneling I am adding to my aluminum boat. I see Nautolex 88 adhesive ($35 quart), Roberts 6700 ($8 quart), and DAP Weldwood original contact cement ($14 quart). I am comfortable using the contact cement for small panels but would like the ability to reposition the vinyl carpeting when covering larger panels.

Is the Nautolex 88 adhesive at $35 that much better than the Roberts 6700 at $8 a quart? I don't mind spending the money if it is necessary.

I have used Dorsett marine vinyl (used to be called Marideck), combined with their own brand adhesive. Worked awesome. They are a competitor of Nautolex, and are OEM suppliers to Lund, Starcraft, Alumacraft, etc.

Nautolex is more of an aftermarket supplier.

I can't advertise for a competitor here, but actually IBoats doesn't carry it anyway. Just google the brand and the matching adhesive should come up.

Or maybe contact the Nautolex seller for advice?

I just did a 20' deck boat with Nautolex, but it was over plywood. I used the HD 3M spray contact cement, which worked absolutely great. Sprayed each side, waited a minute, and down it went! In addition to that, I used stainless staples on the edges or undersides of each piece. That stuff's not going anywhere any time soon....
