It seems that the pontoon boat I reconditioned is getting so much use from friends and family that it is very seldom covered. A day or two is the longest it is unused and the cover isn't put on by anyone but me. My wife thinks I should just accept that and don't worry about it. Maybe, maybe not.
Every pontoon boat I see of any age has torn up seats. I don't want mine to look like that in a few years.
What are my chances of keeping them in good shape with regular use of 303 protectant? The boat will be exposed to the elements about 4 months of the year and will probably have sun on it 8 to 10 hours a day.
Right now, I apply 303 weekly, (only time I am on the boat), and try to keep the vinyl clean and free of contaminants. What kind of life do seats have when protected only by the UV shield in a chemical treatment? Should I just plan on replacing them in a few years?

Charles

I think you're on the right track with regular and frequent use of a UV protectant. They're certainly going to last longer than if you did nothing. Life---hard to say. I have a Bimini top that's 13 years old, has regularly been treated with protectant, and still looks good.

The 303 is the best on the market and will make a big difference.what you really need to do is cover the boat or cover the seats.the sun can do incredible damage in a short period of time even with protection. My seats were redone 3 years ago and we put covers on them every day and they still look brand new.Sometimes we only use extra towels to cover them.Any covering will make a bigger difference than all the 303 you can afford.Charlie

I had a friend who made up covers for the seats( both bench and chairs). Surprising, people would put them on much easier than putting up the cover? Worth a try.
