vinyl graphics?

ok so anyone know if the vinyl graphic kits for cars would hold up on the sides of my boat? Im thinking something like this

would it stay on n all that jazz or could it not take the beating? also if it wouldnt work do they make kits for boats? thanks ~JOSH

I don't see where they would be subject to any worse conditions on a boat than they would on a car (picture a northeastern highway after a winter storm). Secret to these is the surface has to be absolutely clean & wax free, and set them on dead straight - there's no moving or adjusting once you start peeling the back sheet & sticking.

We have put many graphics on, just use some decal spray on the surface and decal so that you CAN move it once its in place. Then using a squeegee get all the bubbles out. You can use water too, just nothing with ammonia.

Striz- Even on the bigger ones? I have used soapy water before & it always seems to dry up too quick before the decal is in the optimum spot. Any tricks (besides working REAL fast)

Well get some decal spray, two people and just have marks (where ever it is easy depending on shape. Every couple feet or so) on the boat so you know where its gonna be. I take my time and measure it all out on both sides. Then just make sure you have tons of the spray on the boat and decal. One person lay the decal while the other pulls the backing away. You could also just make the other person keep on spraying, its not going to hurt anything (unless theres ammonia... ). Also it helps if there about the same temperature.

I have used standard windex when I have applied graphics and it works just as the commercial spray does.

Automotive graphics will hold up the same since they are mostly 3m materials and they have come a long way in the past 20 years.

Windex has ammonia, which in time, will dissolve the adhesive.
