Bruce, do you get wholesale pricing or retail?
Wholesale. I buy from TriVantage. My brother is a used car dealer so that allows us to buy through them.

My next project is going to be with SolarFix thread. Way more expensive that polyester thread. 1 pound spool is close to $200. I know it's good for Sunbrella. Need to find out how it works with vinyl. May have to only use it with the bobbin thread.

Durability?? Marine Grade? Which Brand did you purchase and what issues are you having? Like I said, I got the Close out $5.95 stuff and had it 3 years and it's not showing any issues at all. Heck I used a 6 SPI Morse Home Machine and didn't know what I was doing when I did my original seats and they're still holding up pretty good. Now that I have a Walking Foot sewing 4 SPI with #92 thread its Sooo much better.

It's not as thick or durable "feeling" as what came on my Wise seats or what I removed from the boat. I noticed on the edge of the sundeck where I guess a cooler slid across, the color layer of the vinyl scrapped off a little. Nothing major, but still, you have to walk over the back seat and pad to get in/out of my boat. I waiting for it to split.

I have a "No Shoes" policy now getting in/out of my boat. lol

WOW that's what I used on my customers EXPENSIVE boat and it appeared to be the same quality if not better than what came off of it. It surprises me that you had issues with it. Are any other areas having issues?? I really liked the stuff and like sewing with it. Was yours the foam backed or not. Mine was not but...I did adhere my own scrim foam to the back of it so it would match what came off the boat.

No, no other issues and not foam backed. You can see just looking at it the cloth backing is very thin compared to higher quality vinyl. I thought I would be having stretch issues basking in the sun since I sewed the covers in the winter. But they seem to be holding up as far as that goes. I have a yard of vinyl I bought for a motorcycle seat at IIRC $14/yd and it's twice as thick with a sturdy cloth backing.

Main point was that seller has all different grades, so just get samples first.
