I would love to see some pictures of your boat! You don't see too many around.

One question .... how big is your fuel tank?!? It appears mine is only about 15 gals, which is totally ridiculous for a v8 boat.

Your boat is the reason I decided to pull the trigger and purchase a 25th Ann. Vindicator. I should be able to pick it up mid week next week. I can't wait to get it home and get to work on the gelcoat as mine is heavily oxidized also. Also, my interior is almost identical to yours, maybe just a bit better condition, but not much.

Re: VIP Vindicator Restoration

Congratulations! I'm definitely enjoying my boat. Decided to put off getting the interior work done until after boating season. Can't bring myself to give it up for a couple of weeks!

If you have any questions as you go, let me know! It's great to see another anniversary boat out there!

Re: VIP Vindicator Restoration

Congratulations on your Vindicator purchase! It just so happens that I'm finally getting my interior done so I can be all ready for boating season. Here are some teaser pics of what I'm doing with it:

Side panels aren't bolted in yet, just mocked up. I should have pics of the rest complete in a few weeks!

Are you doing the sewing yourself? I'll hire you to do some of my interior work. LOOKS GREAT

Re: VIP Vindicator Restoration

Thank you for the compliments!

I seriously considered doing the upholstery myself, but it would be no where near the quality of what is getting done. The guy doing the work builds supercars by day and does boat and hotrod upholstery on the side. He owns a scarab and has a real passion for offshore boats. We laid out some color and design ideas, then I let him pretty much have artistic freedom. I should have the seats back by this weekend. The back pad is going to be the real centerpiece.

I'm considering retro fitting the boat with flush, pull up style cleats. Anyone have any suggestions? Will I have trouble with the pull up style rattling and popping up in rough water? My midship cleat will be nearly horizontal, I don't want to fight with them popping out all the time.

Re: VIP Vindicator Restoration

I need to see some pics of your interior. I am getting mine done right now. I decided to stick with the stock(although dated)color scheme because of the Anniversary Edition importance I guess. I also noticed there was a video of a '90 Vindicator on youtube that looked just like our Anniversary boats, but I noticed his had a windshield support right to the left of the key. I was wondering if your boat had that too.

Re: VIP Vindicator Restoration

I'm hoping to get the last of my interior pieces back this weekend. I will be sure to take pictures. If there is anything specific you'd like to see, just let me know.

I also saw that video on youtube and noticed the center windshield support. My does not have one there, but sure could use it. Someone installed an hour meter where that support would attach to the dash, so I can't tell if there was ever one installed there. I also noticed from that video that some mystery holes in my dash coincide with the passenger side dash grab bar.

I am missing the plastic trim that covers the screw heads on the outside of the windshield, any idea on where to get that?

I have the passenger grab bar. I am missing that trim on the bottom of the windshield as well. I ave it on the sides, but not the base of the front. I may try to figure that brace out as it sure could use it.
I got my side panels back and am waiting on my seats right now. It may be an old boat, but people sure do like it on the lake. I decided to stick with pretty much the stock interior because of the anniversary edition, but I changed all the piping to black to add some contrast.

Wow, your boat looks great! I like the black piping on the interior. I can't wait to get mine back together.

It is amazing how much attention these little boats get! I've had people chase me back to the dock just to ask me what it is. I get a TON of comments on how it sounds too.

For other Anniversary boat owners; I picked up some Dupli Color Ford Cardinal Red touch up paint that does an great job of matching our color of red gel coat for minor chip touch ups.
