I used to own a fish and ski with a 200 hp outboard about 5 years ago so I am somewhat familiar with boats in general. I just got a 2001 VIP Vixen SBRXL (5.0 l) yesterday. I drove from Kansas to Houston and back (in 1 1/2 days) because of the deal I got on the boat. I have (or will have) a lot of questions concerning the Vixen and the I/O motor in general but don't know specifically what to ask today. We are going to take it to the lake for the weekend, starting on Thursday and I will know more after that. I realize you have to winterize the I/O and I have read a little about that before choosing this drive system. I would really like to know in general about the VIP line and I'd like to know the difference in the Vixen SBRXL and the SBRC. If anyone can tell me general stuff about operating an I/O, compared to an outboard, I'd love to hear that also. My books were stored on the boat and are all wet. I'm trying to dry them out now. If anyone can recommend good books on this boat and engine, I love to know this. Thanks in advance for any replies.
