Slave soleniod it to switch high current to the soleniod on the starter motor. Key provides about 1/2 amp to slave soleniod, slave soleniod switches about 5 amps to the solenoid on the starter motor which switches up to 200 amps to the starter motor.<br /><br />Some starter motor manufactures build their starter soleniods to be able to pick successfully with just key current, others don't.<br /><br />Chris..........
