I have two batteries hooked up to the switch. One is a starting and the other is a deep cycle.

I noticed that when I am running the boat, the voltage meter on the dash reads over 18. Is this effecting the boat's performance?

Re: Voltage

It's burning up your batteries for sure, and will everntually burn up other things.
First check with a DVM at the battery and confirm that is the voltage going to the battery (you could have a faulty gauge at the helm).
If you actually are getting that kind of voltage, get your alternator tested and repaired.

What engine we working on ??????????

Re: Voltage

Fix known problems first, then see if you still have problems.
