Hi! I run a Johnson 150HP Fast Strike 1995 outboard equipped with Faria voltmeter. At idle or 1000rpm voltmeter reads 12V, at higher rpms (2500 to 3500 or more) reading is 14.5 V.<br />Is this normal? Should I check voltage regulator or alternator?? Tks in advance for your comments

Re: voltmeter readings

You mean that alternator/volt regulator supply a variable output voltage depending on rpms?

Re: voltmeter readings

A regulator regulates the high end voltage to prevent over charging. It does not have any affect on the low end.
