Hi, I am repowering a Formula 233 and my question is, on the intermediate housing ( between the bell housing and the transom) there is a chrome slotted screw on top, what is this? Can find it in any manual. Thanx

Re: volve dp-c1 question

It's place where they used to put a grease fitting.
For some reason they used it on some drives and not on others.
It was explained the bearings in that unit were sealed and didn't need grease.
While your doing all the work,change the bearings and install a grease fitting.

Update: The DP-C drive would not have come with a flywheel cover w/ the slotted screw.

You might have an earlier flywheel cover, and possibly a double bearing PDS.
What motor? Pics of the outfit?

Re: volve dp-c1 question

Sorry for delay, health issues, this is on a intermediate housing which goes between the bell housing and transom, there are bearings in it and seals, I plan on replacing. This is a 5.0 (ford) one more question, why are so many parts obsolete? This is a PLMD and even the pilot bushing is no longer available, 2 broken studs on flywheel and they to are NLA

Re: volve dp-c1 question

The dp-c was not originally mated to a 302 ford...So we need a better description of what you have, or pics and the rest of the story.

Volvo only used the ford engines for two years in the 70's and then again in the mid 90's with the newer style sx outdrives.

What year is your boat?

Are you talking about the pilot bushing in the end of the crankshaft? the studs in the flywheel can be bought at the hardware store. they are NLA because Volvo doesn't produce or sell those parts, especially Ford parts.
PDS = primary drive shaft

Re: volve dp-c1 question

The studs are 5/16 x 7/16 and 1.5 "s long. ...The boat has a 5.0 fl...plmd engine with a dp-c3 drive Cannot find the studs anywhere and probably going to make a couple The pilot bushing in the end of the crank was NLA so had to mic. it up and one for a BMW matched up. There is a intermediate housing( that acts like a gimbal bearing) between the bellhousing and transom Thanx for all your help
