Hi, I searched a little bit on this topic but the previous discussions I read weren't entirely clear to me.

I disassembled my Volvo 270 outdrive to just the bare shell pieces. The aluminum is in ok condition but the paint is horrendous. This boat will be in salt water.

I'm in the process of sandblasting the pieces but I don't have a whole lot of time to work on it, so I'm thinking of having either a body shop or the local boat yard sand and paint it.

So here are my questions:

1. What type of paint and primer should I use? I read zinc chromate for primer, then someone said definitely not zinc chromate. I saw this stuff and it seems like the right kind of primer, but I don't really know about paints - Pettit-AlumaProtect-Aluminum-Below-Water-Epoxy-Primer

2. About what should it cost for the boat yard to do it? I figure they will be expensive but the reason I want to consider them is because I think they would know what they are doing and do a good job.

3. About how much would it cost for a body shop to do it? And what are the chances that they would know what they are doing?

I think those are all of my questions. Thank you.
