I am in the process of trying to remove 'most' of the steering slop from the drive. During this process I noticed that the Suspension fork can move approx 1/16" side to side on the transom shield pins producing some slop.
Is this normal? If not I take it that the bushings need replaced or can a nylon washer be inserted.

I'd just replace the bushings and call it good. Not sure what else you could do anyway. Might check your pins to look for gross wear or see if someone replaced them with a bolt or something.

Unless you're planning on pulling the drive anyway, I'd leave it alone until the end of the season.

I agree with pp40, Not a big deal. I replaced those bushings in my drive last winter. I don't think i have side to side movement but I do have a little up and down.:rolleyes:

Old boats, what can you do.:)

BTW, the bushings have a very thin washer built in that goes between the fork and the transom shield. New bushings may not even fill that 1/16.

I will just change them in the off season, just checking that it was not something to be worried about at present.

Thanks for your input guys.
