Hey everyone - hope you are all just about ready for the '22 season. I've run into a small prob with my Volvo 275 outdrive which i should have spent more time resolving over the winter but totally forgot. The outdrive retaining hook/catch which holds the outdrive down when in reverse has a habit of a) Not holding down in reverse, so the drive lifts up out of the water when docking, and b) doesn't want to release to let the drive come up (say if you hit something submerged) I've got it in the driveway and the drive is locked whether its in F/N/R
Last season the issue in reverse was intermittent so I'm figuring something is out of adjustment. Should the lift/tilt ram be touching the top of the rod that pokes up from the retainer mechanism? Should it be free to lift up in F and N and locked in place in R?
The drive tilts up and down OK using the lift/tilt. Everything is clean and free to move. Not sure whats up with this. Any pointers would be very welcome.
